Building a Home in the Winter

Capstone Custom Homes - Winter Build

Not many people choose to build a home during the winter months — but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible! If your financing or timeline dictate a winter build, that’s not a bad thing. At Capstone Custom Homes, we can still get the job done, even if you’ll need a coat to visit the job site.

Project Schedule

After the foundation of the home has been dug and laid, our team can work through almost any weather. And once the roof and house wrap are up, most vendors can work inside the home, where cold weather isn’t going to bother them. The key is making sure the foundation gets dug before temperatures get too cold. As long as that happens, we should be able to provide an on-time project schedule.

Drier Building Conditions

Contrary to popular belief, winter offers a few perks for construction. Building materials like lumber typically dry faster during the winter thanks to the heated environment of a home under construction as well as naturally lower humidity levels. With low humidity and frozen mud on the job site, certain aspects of construction become easier to manage.

Landscaping

While we can do most construction during winter, tasks such as landscaping and other outside elements are best left to spring. However, this means that completing a build during the winter actually lines up perfectly with putting in your new landscaping for its first spring growing season!

No matter what specific needs or goals you have for your home, Capstone Custom Homes can make it happen — even if you need to build in the winter. Our expert team has the know-how to turn your vision into reality. Schedule a time to meet with a sales consultant to get started.
