For many people, spring is a time of year to freshen up the house — to get everything feeling ready for warmer, sunnier weather. No matter how long you’ve been living in your current home, spring is a great time to take care of some cleaning. Here are a few essential tips to help you get started.

Window Cleaning

Cleaning your windows will let more light into the house, helping your space feel brighter and giving you some much-needed Vitamin D, even when you stay inside. It is best to clean windows on a cloudy day, so that the hot sun doesn’t dry the glass cleaner before you can wipe it away with a microfiber cloth. Clean windows inside and out for best results!

Donate or Garage Sale

Decluttering is one of the best things you can do during spring cleaning. No matter how big your house is, getting rid of unwanted or unused items will help it feel more spacious and better organized. You can donate these extra items to charity, or try to earn a little cash by selling them at a garage sale!

Curtains, Blinds and Vents

The curtains and blinds should be cleaned every year. Blinds and vinyl shades can be cleaned with a duster, while fabric shades and drapes should be vacuumed to eliminate dust buildup. Don’t forget about your vents, either! They should be cleaned every few years to remove buildup. This is especially true of laundry vents, which often collect lint and other debris.

Even if you can only clean for five minutes at a time, your spring cleaning efforts will make a big difference! All that cleaning will pay off in making your home and land that much more enjoyable for your family.
