Fireplaces have long been a popular home feature, but specific trends related to fireplaces do change over time. For example, wood-burning stoves have been making a comeback lately! Whether your fireplace is meant to help heat the basement or serve as the centerpiece of your great room, understanding your options will help you find the right match for your space.

Wood-Burning Fireplace

If you’re going for a classic, traditional look, a wood-burning fireplace is the way to go. In addition to their timeless style, these fireplaces won’t affect your utilities, since no gas or electricity is required. However, wood-burning fireplaces require extra effort to use and maintain. In addition to initial construction, you’ll need to procure firewood and regularly clean the fireplace to minimize the risk of a fire.

Gas Fireplace

Gas fireplaces come in vented and ventless options, and offer a surprising range of design selections. Gas fireplaces are also very heat-efficient, which can be helpful when trying to heat a larger room. Keep in mind that these fireplaces require the installation of a gas line to the home, and ventless fireplaces are subject to additional regulations.

Electric Fireplace

Electric fireplaces are the easiest option to install and are quite flexible in terms of where they can be placed in the house. Unfortunately, their appearance is less authentic than the other options, and they produce the least amount of heat. They tend to be more decorative than a true heat source.

From the room you place it in to the type of fireplace you choose, you have plenty of options. If you’re not sure what will work best for your space, talk to our sales reps and we’ll be happy to help you determine the best solution.
