When Choosing a Builder: The Mechanicals

Submitted by Capstone Homes on

When choosing a builder for your custom home, reviewing your contract to see what is (or isn’t) included is essential. One area you should pay close attention to is usually referred to as the “mechanicals.” These are small details that some builders leave out, even though they still make a big difference for your quality of life. Here are some key mechanical details you should be aware of.

Exterior Faucets and Vents

At Capstone, we focus on providing everything needed in a good home, and not nickel-and-diming you for basic features. For example, we don’t charge extra for a vent for the dryer to the outside. Our exterior faucets are always freeze-proof. And we make sure your home has all the right openings for HVAC pros to do their jobs. You shouldn’t have to upgrade for features like these!

Kitchen Mechanicals

The kitchen is one area where you can never overlook mechanicals. There are many electrical and plumbing needs in addition to cabinets and appliances! Appliance hookups, garbage disposals, GFI outlets, and even an outlet for the microwave above the range are basic conveniences that surprisingly aren’t included in every contract — but they are with Capstone.

Check for the Warranties

Many of the mechanicals that are included in Capstone homes are also backed by generous warranties. For example, our MOEN faucets come with a lifetime warranty on their finish. Be wary of builders who don’t back their work and products with a warranty.

At Capstone Custom Homes, we include a full range of mechanicals standard with every build, so you can have confidence that your house is fully ready for you. See for yourself by visiting one of our model homes or an open house! Contact us today to learn more.
